Broccoli, Books and Beer for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness of the disease that one in eight women will be diagnosed with in their lifetime.
Among women in the United States, it’s the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death, according to Kaiser Family Foundation website.
Here are three interesting resources to help you beef up on your breast cancer knowledge to help yourself or someone you know prevent or beat the disease:
Broccoli’s on the list. So is coffee. Can you guess the others?
This list of tomes includes how to tackle breast cancer, prevent it and survive it. There’s even a book on yoga for breast cancer survivors and one for children to help them cope if their moms are fighting it.
Created by breast cancer survivors and a creative agency, Mamma Beer is designed to appeal to patients whose tastes may have changed during chemotherapy treatments.
